Choose a template that works for your story

Balance personality, readability, and the space your experience needs.

Begin with the content

Write your essential experience before choosing a layout. The amount and kind of information you need to share should guide your design. A compact template may suit a dense career history; a more spacious template may help a shorter resume breathe.

Keep a clear reading order

Make your name, role titles, employers, and dates easy to find. A straightforward single-column design is a practical default. If you choose a sidebar, keep the main career narrative together and check the extracted text order in the finished document.

Use customization with a purpose

Choose one accent color, comfortable text sizes, and consistent spacing. Tighten gaps before shrinking text. A second page is preferable to a first page that requires zooming in to read.

Review the actual document

Check page breaks, long links, bullet alignment, and your contact details. Follow the employer’s requested file format. No template can guarantee that a particular hiring system will accept or correctly parse every document.
